For those interested in the South Dakota choral music scene

Kaye- picKaye Waltner just completed her 30th year of teaching choral music in South Dakota.  After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, she most recently completed her Master of Music with specialization in Vocal Music Education from the University of South Dakota in spring of 2012.  Prior to teaching in Freeman, Kaye taught in the Irene and Sioux Falls School Districts.  Her duties at Freeman include directing the Mixed Chorus, Boys’ Chorus, and Junior High Chorus, as well as teaching general music and individual voice lessons.  Waltner has been the Southeastern Chair for South Dakota American Choral Directors Association for the past six years and has thoroughly enjoyed serving on the SD-ACDA board. She is also a member of SDEA, NAFME, and Delta Kappa Gamma.   Kaye and her husband Terry of 30 years have a daughter Jessie and son-in-law Eric Fjeldheim who live in Leavenworth, Kansas, and a son Trey, who will be a senior math education major at SDSU this fall.
