Membership Updates
My name is Denise Perry, and I am the new membership chair for South Dakota ACDA (American Choral Directors Association.) I currently teach high school vocal at Brookings. I am writing to share the exciting opportunities that ACDA has for you and your students in the upcoming year.

Why join SDACDA? For me, personally, I have found that these 2 reasons are what keep me active in our state organization:
Excellent honor choirs for my students - My top students who attend honor choirs experience music at a level we cannot offer on a daily basis. They inevitably return to our program inspired to be leaders. (You must be an ACDA member to submit auditions.)
Outstanding conferences for me - I am thankful for the chance to network with other choir directors who can relate to my situation, and to learn from leading educators and clinicians. (You do not need to be an ACDA member to attend.) These conferences are always reasonably priced, and jam-packed with practical information!
Here are some important events/dates/deadlines for the 2017-2018 school year:
HONOR CHOIRS
Regional Honor Choirs - 4 honor choirs will take place at the Regional Conference in Chicago from February 14-17, 2018. The audition deadline is Friday, September 29th. All information can be found at this link: http://www.ncacda.org/auditions-are-open-2018-division-honor-choirs/
SD Jr. Honor Choirs - For SD students in grades 7-9. These choirs will take place at the SD ACDA Winter Conference in Rapid City, SD on Friday, Jan. 19 & Saturday, Jan. 20. SD Sr. Honor Choir - For SD Students in grades 10 & 11. This choir will take place in Sioux Falls on July 29-August 3, 2018. Live auditions will take place in April. Check this link for information as it is updated: https://www.sd-acda.org/senior-honor-choir

**Dates are being set that will allow attendees to participate in the 40th Anniversary SD Alumni Honor Choir!! The Alumni choir will perform with the SD Sr. Honor Choir at the Washington Pavilion. If you participated in SD Sr. Honor Choir, please be sure to update your current personal information in the database so you receive further notification!
