ACDA Sing Up Membership Drive

Hello SD-ACDA Friends!

I hope that this email finds you doing well during these first few weeks of school. I am sure it is very different than what any of us would have dreamt a year ago! But hopefully you and your students are happy to be back in the classroom! I realize that this is a long email, but please read carefully as there is a lot of information!

I wanted to let you know about our Sing Up Membership Drive. This is sponsored by ACDA and offers teachers who have never been a member of ACDA or have let their membership lapse for at least 3 years, a free complimentary membership for one year! The hope is that new ACDA members will enjoy the benefits of the organization first-hand and continue to be active members in years to come!

Traditionally, we have targeted these memberships to people who will be new to ACDA or whose membership has been expired at least 3 years, and they otherwise meet the requirements for Active membership. This year, however, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, these complimentary memberships may also be utilized for hardship cases. Examples might be an established member who has lost their job, or whose income has been impacted. If you happen to know anyone who might benefit from this program, please invite them to join!

The form to join is listed below. Please pass this on to friends that you think would love to join and benefit from ACDA and SD-ACDA! Remember that the Sing Up Program runs from Sept. 15-Nov. 15, 2020.

Another way to help motivate you as a current member to invite new people to join, is the Refer a Colleague program. Here is how it works:

  1. A current ACDA member identifies colleagues or students who would make good ACDA members.

  2. The member invites them to join ACDA. The form to use is included below. The referring member writes their name and ACDA membership number on the form, as well as adding in a personal encouragement. Just something like “I hope you’ll consider this,” or “Call me if you’d like to talk about membership” goes a long way

  3. Success? ACDA thanks both parties! If someone joins ACDA as a new Active, Student, or Associate member and mentions the referring member’s name and membership number when they join, both parties will receive a playlist of performances from the 2019 ACDA national conference.

Additionally, our newsletter will be coming out Oct. 1. If you have ideas or articles that you would like to share, please submit these to Whitney Wilson by Sept. 21. Also, one of the things that SD-ACDA is planning to do is to create a Google Drive with teaching tools. Some of the things that we are looking to implement are: a tried and true repertoire list for ages levels of elementary, middle school and jr high, senior high, collegiate, children's and community choirs, lesson plan ideas, and technology help. A survey was sent out to membership in August and we had great responses! However, the survey was anonymous, so if you listed that you would be willing to help out in this way, please email me! And if you did not get to complete the survey and would like to help, also email me! This is your organization and we want to have members be active and would love to have your help and expertise!

Lastly, we will be having a Zoom Coffee Chat this coming Saturday, Sept. 19 at 9:30 am. Please join us from your kitchen, car, patio, or office with a coffee or beverage of your choice to visit and connect with other SD-ACDA members! A Zoom link will come out later this week.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, or concerns. I would love to hear from you and please feel free to invite fellow music educators to join SD-ACDA! We are here for YOU!

Best wishes to each of you as you continue to make music and touch lives of students every day in whatever capacity you are able to do so during this time!

Sending blessings!

Kaye
